課程概述

闡明神經細胞生物學基本觀念,主要內容為了解神經系統運作的分子細胞機制,特別著重於神經細胞內及神經細胞間的訊息傳導調控機制。教學方式以講演為主,課程中安排小組討論、隨堂筆記、論文評論作業、及期中與期末考。  

課程目標
神經科學是二十一世紀最重要的科學之一,面對未知的事物,科學家需要妥善運用創造力和想像力。本課程旨在開發學生的原創力,挑戰學生思考與發問;訓練學生分析思辨與寫作表達的能力;提供電生理學的基本觀念;儲備未來神經科學的研究人才。  
課程要求
英文教科書的閱讀及英文專有名詞之記憶;按照繳交作業; 預習及複習上課內容。

1. You can pick a paper of your interest based on lecture materials. The written assignment should be concise (Note the word limit for each assignment; double space with font size 12) and should be written in Chinese or English. Select an “original” paper within 5 years from research journals (not a review article, brief communication, or comments). Turn in your choice of the original paper at the beginning of the class on the dates indicated (Specify the journal name, volume, pages, year, article title, and authors). Turn in your written assignment as a hardcopy at the beginning of the class on the date indicated. 2. Summarize the major scientific achievements for an original paper in 2 pages. Paper selection due 5/4; Due 5/25. “Major Achievements” should cover the following points: (1) What is the main question? Present the controversy or the unknown in the field. (2) What is the significance or impact of this selected paper? (3) Briefly describe the original paper. (What are the questions, methods, results, and discussions?) (4) Can the paper address the controversy/the unknown in the field? Why? (5) What is the impact of their work on the field? Can you explain their data in a different way? Why or why not? (6) What is still not known? (7) What alternative approaches can be used to address the further work?
